About the Program

Clinton Chamber Youth Leadership Program seeks to engage Clinton-area high school juniors and seniors and challenge them to learn and love the community they live in! Our youth leadership program aims for students to “take charge” of their lives while giving back to their community. In order to focus on these goals, only 30 students are chosen to participate each year! This year's CCYL participants represent four high schools!

Can I apply?

Any Clinton-area rising junior or senior high school student is eligible to apply! We look for students with a keen sense of responsibility, growing character, and willingness to work hard. There is no "perfect" candidate, and it is truly the diversity of each class that brings its energy. Individuals who are established and recognized as leaders among their peers are bound to thrive in this program, and we look forward to meeting more and more students hungry to learn!

Students who attend schools outside of Clinton Public School District are eligible to apply if he or she lives in our city-wide area. Additionally, all participants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA to be considered.

What will I do?

Each year, our students gather together to discover personal leadership styles, business etiquette, entrepreneurship fundamentals, and even the history of Clinton! Led by six student officers, the group will have the opportunity to brainstorm their role in the community and implement that through service. Our hope is to equip and support active learners and leaders!

The program begins in August and concludes in April at our annual Education Luncheon! Throughout the academic year, CCYL meets monthly for workshop-style seminars in addition to periodic service events. Workshop topics range from interview tips to stress management; each year is tailored to the set of students within the class in an effort to be uniquely challenged and motivated! In addition, our workshops are led by experts of their respective fields.

We hold our students to a standard of honorable work ethic and flexible "can-do" attitudes. If the program requirements are not met at the conclusion of the program, students will not receive a certificate of completion and are not eligible to be considered for scholarships.

How much does it cost?

CCYL is free to all participants! There is no cost associated with participation other than time and transportation. Students must provide their own transportation to all sessions and events and be willing to complete at least 15 hours of volunteer service.

I'm not a student. How can I be involved?

We are always looking for workshop speakers, volunteer opportunities, and sponsorship partners! CCYL is a unique mentorship program, and it cannot exist without the aid of our community.
