What is the role of the Planning & Zoning Commission?
The Commission is charged with reviewing site plans for all new, expanded, relocated or reconstructed principal buildings or structures in all zoning districts, except single-family detached dwellings in A1, R1, R2, R3, R4 or PUD Districts. The Commission also makes recommendations on dimensional variances, conditional uses, rezoning requests, and proposed amendments to the Zoning Ordinance.
What is the Clinton Historical Preservation Commission?
The Clinton Historical Preservation Commission shall review all site plans for development anywhere within the Olde Towne Clinton District. The Commission shall review any action within the District such as cutting live trees, construction of parking lots, moving a structure in or out of the district, restoration or rehabilitation of existing structures. The Commission meets on an as needed basis, usually, the Monday before the fourth Tuesday. Applications must be submitted to the Zoning Administrator by or before 12:00 noon on the Thursday immediately preceding the monthly meeting of the Historical Preservation Commission.
May I operate a particular business in a particular zoning district?

The Zoning Ordinance regulates the size of lots as well as the placement of a residence on a lot. Typically, these restrictions regarding placement are referred to as setbacks, which means the distance a structure must be placed or setback from the lot line.
Does the City enforce subdivision covenant restrictions?
The City does not enforce subdivision covenant restrictions. Typically, the Subdivision Association enforces these restrictions. Any subdivision covenant restrictions are recorded at the Hinds County Courthouse.
